Steve Was delighted to be asked to host the National Supported Internship Day for Gateshead Council. Staged at the Civic Centre, it’s a National celebration of supported internships in the UK.

The aim of National Supported Internship Day is to raise and to overcome the challenges facing the sector.

The work placements allow the young people to experience working life, and develope key skills such as workplace behaviours, communication skills, and confidence in themselves and their abilities.

As well as speeches, there was a flag raising. Everyone wore a touch of orange – The colour synonymous with National Supported Internship Day.

The event was attended by Gateshead’s Mayor – Councillor Kath McCartney, and also Gateshead Coucil Chief Executive – Dale Owens.
