Tree-Athlon 2011

Steve hosted the Tree-Athlon in Battersea park, London on September 17th. Trees for Cities is an independent charity which inspires people to plant and love trees worldwide. Established in 1993, Trees for Cities creates social cohesion and beautifies our cities through tree planting, community-led design, education and training initiatives in urban areas that need it most.

There was a warm welcome from CEO of Trees for Cities Sharon Johnson, and then encouraging words from Kulveer Ranger; Director of Environment and Digital London.

After a warm up from Alistair Richardson and David Arnot of Pure Gym, it was down to business. After the run, Steve interviewed runners at the finishing line.

As well as a 5K fun run through Battersea park, Trees for cities attempted, and broke the Guinness world record for the amount of participants in the barefoot 100 meters race. Presenting the awards to the winner's, and runners up of the 5K run were TV personalities Gabby Roslin, and Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins. Also presenting prizes were Paul Pritchard form RSA, and Times Editor - James Harding.
