Steve
hosted the NECC
Annual Tees Dinner at Middlesbrough Town
Hall in June 2011. After an opening welcome
from Steve, he then introduced Chief Executive
of the NECC; James Ramsbotham. Steve then
introduced Keynote speaker, and director
of Tata
Steel (UK) - Jon Bolton. Jon gave a
fascinating talk on the history of steel
making on Teesside. His passion for the
industry, and his love of Teesside was evident.
After a lovely dinner, Steve then introduced
Joanne Fryett; Head of NECC Partners. This
then set the stage for the after dinner
speaker, and what a superb speaker he was.
Olympic athlete Roger Black MBE was funny,
engaging and had the guests hanging on his
every word. It culminated in a DVD of Roger
and fellow team mates; Derek Redmond, John
Regis and Kriss Akabusi winning gold at
the Tokyo World Championships in 1991. It
had everyone clapping and cheering.

The
chosen charity for the evening was the "Chalkland
Plodders" who will take part in a 40
mile trek across the Yorkshire Wolds. It will
commence in the dark at midnight on the 9th
July. They will do the trek in aid of Action
Medical Research. £1100 was raised
on the evening.
Steve would like to say a big thank you to
NECC Events manager - Cheryl McCarrick, who
said after the event.......
"Hi
Steve, Thank you once again for being the
MC for yesterday's dinner. The content of
the links was absolutely perfect, and covered
every aspect that needed to be included, with
the right emphasis on elements of the evening
at exactly the right time. I hope on reflection,
the evening was a good one for you, and I
do hope that when we are looking to book the
event again, we can contact you for your services
again." |
