The
Excelsior Academy is sponsored by Lord Laidlaw, who attended
in 2010 and presented an award. That year, the guest speaker
was the inspiring Bob Champion MBE, who overcame major health
problems to ride Aldaniti to victory in the 1981 Grand National.

In
2011, the guest speaker was Katy Storie, who was inspirational.
Katy made her England debut against South Africa at
the 2006 Rugby World Cup in Canada. Since then she
has become a regular in the England squad and is one
of several talented props. Katy was also in the Great
Britain weight lifting squad before taking up rugby.
