The Calvert Ball 2011

Steve hosted the Calvert Ball at Newcastle Gateshead Hilton hotel in early September 2011.

Calvert Trust Kielder has over 25 years experience of providing excellent, tailor-made, outdoor multi-activity days or residential breaks, adult respite care packages and 4-star self catering Scandinavian-style lodge holidays, welcoming guests of all ages and abilities. It is situated in their own 40-acre woodland site within the spectacular Kielder Water & Forest Park. As one of the UK’s most beautiful areas, this location offers 27 glorious miles of shoreline, a magical environment full of wildlife and flora, fresh, clean air and magnificent expansive horizons!

There was a speech from Peter Cockerill; CEO at Calvert Trust Kielder, and a very moving and inspiring story from Paul Godfrey. Paul was badly injured in a climbing accident, and left with permanent disability. He told of how the Calvert Trust had turned his life around. A great band closed the evening - the Jamie Squire band.

As well as hosting the event, Steve also provided subtle swing and rat pack vocals during dinner. With ticket sales, and all the fundraising on the evening, including the grand auction which Steve hosted, over £35,000 was raised. This exceeded last years total by some £5,000, which considering today's financial climate is a real achievement by the whole team.
