Josie's
Dragonfly Variety Show |
| |
Brightening
the lives of children and young people living with cancer..........Josie's
Dragonfly aims to provide a single Cash Gift of £500
to a child or young person where treatment is no longer
considered curative. The money is for the child or young
person to spend as they wish. The charity is the legacy
of a very courageous young lady - Josie Madeline Grove.

"We
were delighted to have Steve as our Compere & Host for
the Josie's Dragonfly Variety Show. He pulled all the acts
together with pure professionalism and natural ease. He
had everyone in stitches with his humour and at the same
time he was able to keep people focused on the reason for
the event. Thanks to Steve we raised a substantial amount
on the evening and I am sure his willingness to wear a ridiculous
costume (a dragonfly suit) at our request added a good few
pounds to the pot. It was great working with Steve and we
have already had many comments from members of the audience
who also thought he was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend
him to anyone needing a host for their event and very much
look forward to working with Steve in the very near future".

Steve
hosted Josie's Dragonfly Variety Show at Newcastle
Theatre Royal on Sunday March 13th 2011. It was the
last show at the Theatre Royal before going dark for
many months. It is to undergo a major refurbishment.
All of the artistes gave up their time for free to
appear on the show. Steve introduced; |

"I
asked Steve to be our presenter for the Josie's dragonfly
Variety Performance, on 13th March at The Theatre Royal
Newcastle, he agreed immediately. Steve was the last piece
of the jigsaw I needed, and he kept the show together brilliantly,
filling in time whilst performers were changing or the set
was being altered, with his wit and humour. Not letting
anybody forget why they were there, to raise funds for children
with cancer. He definitely helped make the evening entertaining,
and run like clockwork, a true professional. We made a profit
of £13,000, and with Steve taking on the roll of auctioneer,
he definitely helped boost the funds. I have already booked
him for next year"

The
show raised in excess of £13,000. Much of the credit
must go to show producer Sue Lawrence, who worked tirelessly
to stage the show.
Thanks
to Theatre Royal Chief Executive Philip Bernays, and the
superb crew, who couldn't have been more helpful on the
day. |
